Greetings!
You are invited to attend our upcoming workshop taking place at the National Agricultural Library, Beltsville, MD on June 20th-22nd:
“Driving Innovation through Data in Agriculture (DIDAg) – data management and publication for researchers and information scientists.”
Public access to Federally funded research results is fast becoming an expectation of both the U.S. Government and the scholarly community. Access to well-described, raw data ensures that research is conducted with integrity. Access to data also can lead to new research and seed entrepreneurial efforts such as third-party mobile applications for farmers, ranchers, or consumers. However, in most agricultural research communities the cultural norms of data management and publication are underdeveloped.
DIDAg will bring together agricultural librarians, data managers, researchers, and extension agents to address the needs and challenges associated with managing data for two 21st century research areas: dairy agroecosystems and agricultural economics. The DIDAg workshop website contains the draft agenda, speaker biographies, and location and hotel information. Poster abstract submission details will be available soon. Please visit https://www.nal.usda.gov/ks/didag2018/
Please register as soon as possible (https://www.nal.usda.gov/ks/didag2018/registration). Deadline for registration is June 8th and the deadline for the reduced-rate room block at the local hotel is May 28th.
This workshop is supported by the NIFA Food and Agriculture Cyberinformatics and Tools (FACT) Initiative.
Please feel free to share this announcement with your colleagues and let us know if you have any questions or suggestions.
Sincerely,
DIDAg Organizing Committee
