Workshop description:
Title: "Bringing FAIR Data to the Classroom", Plant Biology 2024 Conference
Location: Virtual (https://plantbiology.aspb.org/virtual-content/)
Date: Tuesday, June 4, 1 PM Eastern Time (US and Canada)
Duration: 1 hour
About
Plant biologists are competent users of biological databases and repositories for managing their data. However, few understand how such databases are built and maintained, much less how to share their data and find, access, and reuse existing data. There is a strong need to educate current and future researchers about these tools so they can benefit and participate in community-based data sharing.
The AgBioData Education working group developed an open-access educational curriculum that introduces the biological database and repository ecosystem and recommendations for related data that follow the FAIR — findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable — data principles. This workshop will feature lesson modules of the curriculum and will be of interest to both plant biology researchers and educators who use or want to learn more about biological databases and repositories.
